CART SERVICES (COMMUNICATION ACCESS REALTIME TRANSLATION)


CART/captioning can be used in a variety of settings including but not limited to classrooms, legal settings, courtrooms, public events, public broadcasts and meetings.

Steel City Interpreters offer Communication Access Realtime Translation services to Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.

CART providers produce instant verbatim translation of the spoken word into English text for display. This is done by using a laptop computer with realtime software and a stenotype machine. The text can be displayed on the reporters laptop or projected onto a screen for larger audiences.
Section 36.303 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) recognizes CART specifically as an assistive technology.
